INNOVATION - RECRUTEMENT - JEUNES DOCTEURS

R&D Doctor (M/F) – Chemistry – Sol-gel processes Application to packaging (PKT)

RD2 Conseil is a recruitment firm specializing in the search for scientific profiles, and in particular « young doctors » for the R&D needs of innovative SMEs and private companies, wishing to equip themselves with advanced skills and real human resources in terms of Innovation.

We are currently recruiting an R&D Doctor in Chemistry, with particular expertise in sol-gel processes.

Our client is a Young Innovative Company created in 2020, specializing in the creation of plastic-free packaging, thanks to its solution for formulating ceramic / sol-gel coatings for paper which makes it possible to replace plastic while guaranteeing the same performance.

This patented large-scale coating technology provides paper solutions with the same properties as plastic (resistance to humidity, grease, etc.), by converting silicon (the most abundant material on Earth), and cellulose (the most abundant biopolymer), into a nanostructured material.

The company (8 people to date) offers fully recyclable and biodegradable packaging, and has the objective and ambition of eradicating the use of plastic from packaging and daily life (already 90 tonnes of plastic avoided in 2022 thanks to the solution).

Its clients are mainly large, internationally renowned groups in various sectors of activity that are heavy consumers of packaging and plastic products (food industry, fast food, etc.).

The coating solution thus makes it possible to replace disposable containers in many areas: cement bags for the construction sector, edible foodstuffs in the food industry.

As part of its development, our client wishes to recruit a Doctor (M/F) in Chemistry, with specific skills in sol-gel processes, for applications related to paper/cellulose packaging.

In particular, your work will focus on:

  • Optimization of the functionalities of products already marketed (fireproof paper, cups, etc.)
  • The development and formulation of tailor-made products (elasticity issues, resistance to water vapor, plastic-free glue, etc.)
  • Testing in an industrial context and taking into account the challenges of scaling up
  • Carrying out permanent technological monitoring to be able to offer state-of-the-art solutions, or even beyond

We are looking for a candidate with the following skills:

  • Doctor in Materials Chemistry, with very good knowledge of organic/inorganic chemistry and particularly sol-gel processes
  • Ideally, research experience on formulations applied to coatings on paper/packaging (chemical coating)
  • Knowledge of biosourced materials (polymer materials) and cellulose will be particularly appreciated

Our client is looking for committed and dynamic employees.

You are autonomous, capable and willing to “get your hands dirty”, by carrying out formulations and manipulations on the bench, as well as testing and validating them in a very operational context, in order to bring real added value to our client.

To do this, we are looking for a versatile person, capable of adapting to diverse environments, with a strong open mind, creativity and a practical sense allowing him / her to find solutions to complex problems.

You have strong interpersonal skills and are comfortable interacting with a variety of people (customers, etc.), particularly in an international environment (proficiency in written and spoken English is required).

Location: Paris region (35 minutes away from Gare du Nord)

Salary: According to profile

If you think you are this person, that you hold a Doctorate and have never been hired on a permanent contract after completing your thesis (imperative constraint to respect the CIR criteria), we invite you to send us your CV and cover letter by email: jesuisunjeunedocteur@rd2conseil.com under the reference PKT
